This coin looks really odd close up and even just looking at it normally, what would cause this?

I'll guess it was heavily corroded and then cleaned with a strong reactant that colorized the bronze.

Yep, probably a corroded metal detector find that someone scrubbed up.

Definitely looks like something that's been sitting in the ground for a while, my father in law finds a lot of his collection with his metal detectors, but usually doesn't clean them to produce this kind of color.

Just a normal found in the ground copper still better than any post 82 zinc cent.
