I bought this coin because it has a large die rotation. The reverse is rotated clockwise relative to the obverse by slightly more than 180°. The obverse also has some interesting small Cuds along the right rim, which I guess are evidence that the die was starting to crumble.

This photo is of the reverse with the coin turned so the design is right-side up. As is common for 3-cent nickels, a faint outline of Liberty's portrait is visible on the reverse; this is the result of clashed dies.

This photo shows how the reverse is oriented if you flip the coin over with a normal "coin turn." The clashed outline of Liberty appears to be upside down in this photo which puts it in alignment with the portrait on the obverse. I'm thinking that means that the dies clashed after they had come to their misaligned, rotated positions. Does that make sense?

Nice find, Jaobler! I would have brought it home, too.

Rotated dies are very common in that era. So common, in fact, that the rotation needs to be at least a full quarter turn off for it to generate any interest among knowledged collectors.

Nice find Jaobler! If you don't mind, would share how much you paid for this? I'm curious as to how much such this lovely 3 cent piece goes for.

This coin came from Jack Beymer's fixed price list in Jan. 2006. He described it as EF45 grade with a 195° rotated die. If when you flip the coin over the reverse is exactly upside down it would be 180° rotated; the rotation on this coin is just beyond that point.
My cost including shipping was $60 which I thought was pretty reasonable.
