Just received these 3 wins from a recent auction.

I have always wanted an elephant denarius of Julius Caesar, and this one has a nice provenance. The Domitian was an impulse buy because I liked the reverse. The Tiberius is the third Tiberius quadriga denarius I have acquired, but this one is in really nice almost EF condition. It will make nice upgrade to my existing 12 Caesars.

Here they are!

Congrats on three super coins, they had to set you back quite a bit. Out of the three the Tiberius is my favorite.

Fantastic pick-up's, Orfew. Your amazing run of Roman denarii over the past year just got even better.

Beautiful coins, especially the Tiberius quadriga. That's a type I don't think I've seen before. Lovely toning!

@Echizento

Thanks for the kind words. The elephant denarii are plentiful but not cheap. The Tiberius is also my favourite of the 3. You cannot tell from the photo but the obverse portrait is in very high relief. I was very lucky to get this one.

@Bob L

Many thanks Bob, I was very excited to get these in the mail today. Your words of encouragement are always appreciated.

@ Paul Bulgerin
Thanks Paul. The Tiberius is designated an R2, so it is a scarce coin. They are out there but nice ones are not easy to find. I thought this type was more interesting than the tribute penny which is why I made it a part of my 12 Caesars set. It copies a reverse of Augustus. I would really like the Augustus. I am looking to upgrade my Augustus quinarius but I have not found the right coin...yet.

Great coins, I seem to be different from most here though in that the last coin doesn't really do anything for me despite appreciating its virtues, I prefer the top two by quite a large margin. Firstly who wouldn't want a Caesar, and that's a pretty good example of one, great design and this has clear details and is mostly on the flan. Secondly I love pretty much any coin with Romulus and Remus on it, it has aesthetic appeal to me. They all have merit but its funny how some coins just speak to people and others don't...and these seem to be different per individual.

Congratulations on the pick ups.

@Spence
I know they are common, but I have always been attracted to these elephant denarii. It is an interesting coin of an interesting ruler. Thanks for the comment.

@DavidUK

As I said above, the Domitian was an impulse buy. There was just something that caught my eye about the reverse. It was probably the fact that the legend of Romulus and Remus are so iconic to the foundations of the empire.

I really like that not all coins speak to everyone. It would be a dull world if we all liked the same thing. Besides, a diversity of collectors' interests means less competition for individual coins. Thanks for your response.
