Curious if a starting auction of $29.90 is okay?

It appears to be mid-VF, but the evil cleaning monkey got to this at some point and it shows rather strongly with the black deposits that were left behind. If you are listing on ebay the best way to know what prices are going for is to do the search and then convert it to sold or closed sales, then from top to bottom on price. Look at what is selling near your asking price, and you will soon see how many do sell that look like yours, and at what price. That works for any coin, of course.

I checked ebay item# 162227518705 it's bidding strong. I'm gonna lower mine to $19.90 after reading your reply and see what happens. In 5 days I'll post the results. Thanks for your input. Funny thing, I just joined yesterday and read posts about microscopic USB cameras. I've had one for years and didn't use it properly but now I have two coin pictures posted here w/my 2mb camera! How cool is that?

I wouldn't take much stock in a seller, whose every auction is a private/ no bidder ID sale. These are generally for big $ items. May be placing bids themselves, but I'm a cynic. I see no reason for a $10 item to have a dozen hidden IDs. When I've bid on these in the past, 75% of the time I'd get a 2nd chance offer.

I bought a coin from this seller 2 or 3 years ago. They were selling coins from their uncles estate back then. I recognized the hand writing on the 2 x 2 and when I read the description.... it hasn't changed a bit.

$19.90 sounds a lot more reasonable than $29.90. I always offer free shipping since most people incorporate it into their bids anyway. I see your auction ends Monday at 2:00pm and that is not a good time to end an auction. Try Saturday or Sunday evenings for the most exposure. Good luck.

For the grade, I would think VF-30 Details.

I gotta say this is some experience for me. I've never been on a forum before. I've been on ebay well over 10 years with multiple accounts. I've been doing coins for only about 5 years. I just bought NGC#3690230-042 for $390.00 +shipping.

I agree with ending bidding on the weekends because I know I buy a lot when I've had a few beers. LOL

Quote: I just bought NGC#3690230-042 for $390.00 +shipping. as for the current w/ arr piece, pass all together. save another $75 and spend $125 on an original certified VF example.

I think your getting some good suggestions ...
All I could add
Try to get a little better picture. Take the coin out of the 2x2 and try to get a good focused picture without any glare.

VF-30 details. For best photo quality, remove the coin from the 2 x 2.

I'd pass on this coin. Might take a bit longer and a bit more cash to get a nice un-cleaned example but it will be worth it in my opinion.
