I picked up a few more mint state Mercury dimes.

This is a 1929. It looks like a lower grade MS coin, perhaps MS-60 or MS-61 with gold toning. The luster is OK and I can't see any wear under 10x magnification. The bands are weakly struck.

What do folks think?

Thanks for the grading responses.

After reading them I gave the coin another good look with my 10X and do now see the wear on the tops of the wings. I guess the gold toning fooled me.

Still have a ways to go learning the fine art of grading.

I am concerned that what you are calling gold toning looks more like green, possibly PVC contamination. It might just be the lighting and my monitor though. I agree with low AU grade. The PCGS Price Guide has an example of an AU58 that looks a lot better than your coin.

The toning is gold. I just have had a lot of trouble getting good photographs of this and the other two Mercury dimes I bought.

Fortunately, I only paid a six dollars for it.

Here's another photo I took today in natural sun light. Still not a very good shot.

If anything, I am leaning more toward EF than my original AU-53 grade.
