Hello fellow coin lovers!! My first post, new collector.

1943 S Mercury errors? Need guidance. Valuable?

1) There is a dot behind Liberty's Hair- high neck.
2) there is another dot on Reverse after the date.

I can't find anything online about this.. help?

If the dot is raised from the field, then it would have to be a dent incuse on the die. Possible die dot that has broken away.
If it is not raised, then it might be a stain or imperfection on the planchet.
If it is incuse, the then it might be damage on the coin.

The "dot" behind Mercury's neck is actually an AW, the initials of the designer, Adolph A. Weinman.

I don't think DallasD is pointing to Weinman initial, but rather the dot behind Mercury winged cap. Its hard to see what dot is on the reverse DallasD referring to.

I would agree with coop that these are probably minor stain or imperfection to the planchet. Or simply minor damage.

To clarify, I was not referencing the initials above the date.

Based on lighting variances & about 20 pics boths dots are raised.

Would something like this (given that the dots are incused) be considered a mint error? What qualifies as an error?

Thanks again for all the feedback everyone!!

Not a real premium for this. More of knowing what is the cause is the battle. If it is not too much of a distraction, it should not reduce value.
