Hey, I recently picked up a Heritage Rare coin gallery graded morgan at $103. This coin was graded MS65.

How accurate would you say this grading is? I personally don't think the morgan would even make MS63

Could go 65 today if the light is just catching that hit right in the photo and it is minor in hand. More than likely though it would grade 64. I am not seeing anything that would make me think less than that.

The scratches on the cheek mean it's a 64 at best. You really need to see it in-hand though because it could easily be a 63 as you noted.

It really depends on how bad that hit on the cheek is. Lighting can be brutal when reflecting off minor abrasions.

The coin looks no higher than MS 63. Heritage lost a law suit in 1989 for 1.2 million for inflated grading. At that time the coins graded by Heritage were about half the actual graded value.

Agree it's pretty hard to judge from these pics.

Also who's to say the coin being sold is the one that was originally graded? I have some of those old heritage graded papers I could toss in a new flip along with a coin of the same date.
