I have never owned a slabbed coin and I had a couple of questions. Are the slabs air-tite? Are the coins firmly in place so they don't rotate or rattle? Are the cases fairly sturdy?

I don't think they are air-tight but close to it. The old holders were called "ratlers" but they don't do that much these days. They are pretty sturdy but scratch kinda easy.

No, they are not air-tight. The most recent generation of PCGS holders are wster-tight, but air has smaller, slippery molecules.

The slabs are not air-tite. Also, beware of fake coin holders coming out of China. There are many of them being shipped overseas. Go on (Not Allowed).com and look up coin holders.

Also, if there is something you are interested in buying, post it here and we can analyze the coin for you. Lots of very knowledgeable people on here.

The most popular company in Canada is ICCS. Their holder is not a hard plastic but soft. So the case is NOT fairly sturdy and I have seen some rotation of coins inside.
That does not mean that this company should be avoided. People use ICCS for their grading service, not for the holder.
