I just recently started collecting coins again, so I am still learning the terms and protocols for collecting.

I ran across a Jefferson nickel that was a 1967 Jefferson Head on one side and a 1983P Jefferson Head on the reverse side. I have made photographs but still trying to figure out how to upload them.

What kind of error? and the difference of 16 years make me wonder how did this happen?

Any thoughts.

I will post photos as soon as I learn how to upload the photos.

Most likely a Magicians coin. They are sold at stores to magicians for a few bucks. they hollow out a coin and put another one inside of it. Value is 5 cents

I have seen them in toy/novelty shops for about $5. Not necessarily part of a magic trick, I think the package says something like "Win every bet!"

I found one in circulation a few years back. They are easy to miss if you aren't careful.
Rest in Peace

That's a fun find! Not really valuable -- but fun.

My first Magician's coin was a quarter with heads on both sides. At the time I didn't realize it was impossible for the mint to produce such an error so I was really excited -- until I saw that the Mint Marks didn't match.

I still have it ... somewhere....

If you look carefully at the coin you should be able to find a seam on one side where the cut was made.

Fun find indeed. CRH long enough and folks will find them. Lots in circulation at this point.

Actually it is not a win everytime coin. Most of the time, the chooser picks heads. So a better winner coin would be tails/tails. IMOHO

to the CCF. These are also, unfortunately, used for drugs. A pocket full of "change" = a pocket full of dollars.
