Found this 1979 quarter. The edges are smooth. No trade on the rim edge of ever been struck on the sides. Is this common? Or man made? Or an error? Thanks for your input. The quarters I have it. Ext to are a 2010 and a 1964.

to CCF. Not an error. Most likely a slot machine coin. The edges get worn down from usage in the slot machines.

My bet is that it's a slot machine coin. Spent a lot of time in a casino and the repeated insertion causes the reeding to wear away.

Are you serious about one of the coins being a 1964? A US quarter-dollar of that year should not have a copper edge.

And to the CCF; best on the net!

If it was 20 yrs. younger, I'd have given parking meter a shot. Those
old crank-beasts really chewed a piece up.

We still have those parking meters. Not only do we have them, but dimes and nickels will still buy you serious time, too.

It weird there so many of the same exact coin I have one of these so the same exact coins looks just like it it's weird how a slot machine can damage in 1979 coin exactly the same why is it picking on the 1979 year ?

They changed over to cards after that. What year, I don't know. But ask at a casino, they might know?
