I know the pictures are not great, and the coin is in pretty bad shape. I just cannot seem to find an example like it. It appears to have a seated liberty type front and an eagle on the back. The date is hard to read but it looks like 1814. It is definitely 18?4. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It's not from the United States rather it is Canadian in origin.

Appears to be a Lower Canada 1/2 penny token http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces16537.html

There are two varieties of these but you'll have to ask in the Canadian forum for this info. It has to do with the size of the shield.
