Looks like the rim is altered on the reverse. The coin is probably bent a bit. Looks like someone worked it over with a hammer and screwdriver/punch or something that bent the obverse down a flatten the reverse leaving deeper areas raised on the reverse. So it may have happened on a semi soft surface, that flattened the devices, but allow the dimples to come through on the reverse. How for sure, you've got me? PSD
