Just curious on how some of these high volume ebay sellers source their coins. Saw one seller today with 11,000+ active listings.

Do they have deals worked out with coin shops and cash for gold places to buy collections that come in over the counter? Or are they getting their stuff in bulk from wholesalers?

Dealers buy collections.
That's the easy part.
Getting them listed is what takes the time.
And to have that many listed they may "list until cancelled".

They also buy wholesale from other dealers.

I've been to a coin auction here in Berlin yesterday. I'd say about 60 percent of the 2.500 lots were bought by dealers and sometimes I wondered about how they'd profit from the prices they paid.

Also it's amazing to see some guy spending more than 100k at an auction on 1 day and just think about the margin he may get out of it...

I think collections and auctions would be the main sources.

A dealer with the right funds.can buy a endless amount of coins.

Yes they will buy collection.

But there are dealer to dealer networks where a lot of coins get traded/sold

over here it's usually traders buying whole collections from people who inherited or somehow acquired a collection. It's the photography and listing for the online shops that takes most time. 11.000+ individual items sure is a lot.
