Carson City or Cheap Counterfeit? This closed out at $50 from 112179593554, sold by a seller who is not very experienced/reputable. Does this match any die marriages or is this yet another fake? Rim is uneven and denticles look very weird. Edited by 0xDA71D 11/01/2016 02:12 am

Hi OxDA71D I think it's the mint mark for Carson City and yes the coin does like weird but a good way to found out if this is a fake use a magnet on it that's what I did with mine too. Also it has been cleaned to the max too.

Real but heavily polished IMO

It is a real coin that someone tried to shine and wound up failing miserably at it. Good for you for not even paying the fifty bucks for it.

Overdipped & whizzed. $50 seems about right.

I would carry that in my pocket for a year or so ....
Might wear it down to a normal look.

Real but heavily polished. Not worth $50 IMO.

Genuine but heavilly polished. As GR58 said maybe wear it down as a pocket piece and then maybe it will be worth something

Genuine but polished. Contrary to what others are saying here, $50 is not a bad price for this coin. A few years ago, I sold an 1880 CC Morgan for $50 that was polished AND bent AND had graffiti.

I think this coin would bring $50. I sold a lower grade example with heavy obverse scratches (but no polishing) for $70, and it had strong bidding activity at that!

$50 is the going rate for ANY Morgan with a CC on it in the poorest of conditions as long as it's identifiable as a CC aside the 79 & 89

I agree that is has been harshly cleaned but still worth $50 as a CC Morgan.

That's an extreme example but still a decent buy. 1 c = half price lol
