I found something interesting today!!

I do love old coins/currency, but I am not a collector. I was cleaning out my Aunties old crawl space in her new apartment when I spotted a coffee can in the very back. When I tipped it over, I found it was full of coins!

Not currency, sadly. My search for what they were brought me here, although the posts were from 2007. (I hope my post is acceptable here)

They are Shell Famous American Coin Game aluminium tokens. I do have some sense of their history and value, but having no real experience in this sort of thing, I am at a loss for how to proceed.

There must be over 500! I am certainly going to keep some, but what do I do with the remainder? Does anybody have any tips on how to find more about them? Such as; what sets were winners, who were the most avid collectors in their time, are there similar token collecting games, etc....

And, what would be best way of storing, sorting, selling them. Different from regular coins?

Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated! Thank you to all for having me!

Thank you, jbuck!! I felt certain I was posting in an inappropriate forum for my questions, but I didn't know where to look, so to speak.

I did read all the forum rules. Only, I have never participated in any forum at all, so I feel like I'm a tourist driving in Timbuktu

@riverswillows, first welcome to CCF. Second while I don't know about value of these tokens, this website has more info about the game as well as describing which ones were more rare.

Aloha!

Those are Franklin Mint issues for Shell Oil Company game promotion called Mr. President Game. There were 32 medals when the promotion was going on.

See how many complete sets you can build.
