Hi,
Thanks for letting me join the forum. I was a child collector of coins and commemorative medals back in the 1970s, and only got back into exploring my collection about 5 years ago when I was 50.

I am now specialising only in commemorative medals, and have narrowed my interests down to two areas:

*The medals of the life of Edward, Prince of Wales/King Edward VIII (1894-1972). Using Giordano's pretty comprehensive catalogue to build my collection

*The medals issued in the UK commemorating the conclusion of WW1 & (to a lesser extent) WW2. There is no standard catalogue for this area, so I've been doing a lot of research.

Anyway, if anyone else is interested in these areas, I'd be interested in corresponding.

Cheers

Simon

ShivaD1: to the CCF!
I have just two distinctively Scottish coins:
A Turner and a Bodle, both very worn.

For basic research into the area you are interested in, it may require some time absorbing and enjoyable visits to a museum that has a reasonable collection appropriate to your interests.

My first starting out point (for me), would be the British Museum. They may then be able to direct you to a museum closer to where you live.
You never know, you may well end up contributing the the body of knowledge in your specialist field of interest of WW1 and WW2 commemorative medals.
