Thinking about putting together a LWC set from circulation. Is there a brand that is better/safer for long term storage? Not looking for an album. Thanks all. John 1

John , I'm assuming they'll all be brown and up to EF-40'ish , so you won't have a problem with toning from being in a folder . I don't believe any folder is better than another but I always went with Whitman for my folders and albums .

If you can, look at which coins are included. All brands (folder and albums) include or exclude some varieties. For example: some include a spot for 1922 no D LWC, some do not.

For long term storage of coins in any Folder, just not a good idea.

I prefer albums, too, even for my general circulation finds. However, I think the Whitman folders are fine for them if that is all you are collecting.

I too like albums better. But .. using the folders for a circulated set, can take you back to another time. As far as safe, with any folder or album, you have to keep them in a good climate controlled environment. When I see the old premium Whitman folders, in good shape, sometimes I cant stop myself from picking them up.

I have my #3 set in Harris folders which are readily available and pretty cheap. I think Harris bought Whitman or Whitman bought Harris if memory serves correctly. These are just overflow coins from sets #1 and 2 which are in Dansco albums.
