I've also listed this under World Coins, but this might be a good spot for finding some help as well.

I won this on ebay yesterday for $2.25. I have no real idea of what it is, but it had free shipping so I tossed in a bid out of curiosity.

I would assume that it's a fantasy piece of some sort struck with the reverse design for some pieces that were struck for the completion of the mint in Shanghai in 1930.

I haven't received it yet and doubt that it's silver.

Any idea? A modern fantasy/fake or what?

Thanks for any help.

It kind of looks like the reverse was struck over an existing coin. If this was a real coin, I doubt they would have used Victoria's portrait. By 1930, The would have moved on to George V.

Medals with this reverse were struck bearing the image of Sun Yat-sen on the obverse.

The Victoria obverse looks very nice, not at all like a crude copy. I haven't been able to locate information on it except for this one web link:

I assume it's an Asian fake, but would like to know more about it.

Obverse die produced off original master die.

Obverse die probably cut by hand in China, (at the new Mint?). Very obviously poor workmanship.

As it turns out I won't get to see what this token actually is.

The seller put it loose in a regular envelope and when it arrived there was a rip in the side of the envelope and nothing inside.

She is going to refund the whopping $2.25 I paid for it.
