I have seen coins with up to three different off-sets of Trails. I always figured that was about the maximum possible under Trail Die Theory - it all happens pretty fast. The die inadvertently scrapes the hub horizontally. It might even have time to jump two or three times leaving trails with two or three different off-sets.
This coin has several independent Trails with graduating off-sets. That tells me it was all one motion with a tilting and rotation involved. Is that possible?

It's certainly different Dustin. I don't think it's listed, I think it will be though. In the meantime I hope someone can figure it out.

I've seen different angles on trial dies before. Not something new.

Coop, I too have seen the two or three random off-set trails on some coins. They are all consistent with BJ's theory on the formation of Trail Dies. I've never seen eight progressive off-sets. Is that consistent? I don't know. Would it be possible to get BJ's opinion?

PM BJ. He must be busy because he did not respond to my last email and I was wondering when my 1985 LMC trail was being added to his site. Hope he is well.

Yes I hope so too. We haven't heard from him in a while. I sent him an Email last night via the Traildie website. I included a link to this thread. I'll give it a few days to work, I think even on a good day he's a very busy man. If it doesn't work I'll look up his personal email and resend. I can't let this one go by the wayside. I didn't ask to find this coin, I was perfectly happy without it. It does raise some questions. I have seen some Trail Dies before where all the trails were lumped in one off-set, but on close examination, some were different. This one really exemplifies it.

I PM'd BJ a couple days ago. I haven't heard back. JC's on vacation. We haven't heard from Ken in while. We seem to be running out of experts. Scary thought huh? We still have a few, I was hoping for BJ because he seems to be pretty into trails. I guess I'll just have to put this one in the unsettled file for now. Thanks all for the comments.
