Hello Coin Community,

I am a new member here but I have always looked at my pocket change for wheat pennies and silver to save. Until recently I haven't realized and looked for Mint Errors so please for give me if my Lingo here is elementary.

I have a 1946 Wheat that has a Bulge on the edge above the date. Looking closer at the edge it looks to have been gouged with an object which seems to still be inside. I have no idea if this could have happened when it was struck at the mint but whatever stuck it hit it with precision without tearing the copper away.

Any comments would be appreciated! Thanks

There doesn't appear to be a dent. I would not be surprised if its a mint error. There are plenty of knowledgeable people here to help you.

Looks like something was hammered into the edge of the coin, creating the bulge on the rim. PSD
