First; A very faint idea... It is a token of some sort, perhaps a meaningless game token. The two words on it look to be "Gamiel" and "Paphill". At least that is what I seam to be seeing. Well according to Google Gamiel is a name not as common as Smith or Jones, but a last name. There is a Pap hill in Australia and Pap in New Zealand maybe it Represents Farmer Gamiel of Pap Hill. Well, you asked for the faintest idea.

The top picture looks like a magic square, except that it doesn't add up. Could we have some closer, sharper pictures please?

First welcome to CCF! Second, I wonder if you found this token in or near water. The reason why I ask is because this seems to be a somewhat common theme with these magic square tokens. See, for example, this previous thread from CCF: http://goccf.com/t/261140Yours is the first I have seen with mostly all English inscriptions.

The found near water idea crossed my mind too, but 50 years ago it would have been highly unlikely. Also it is using Arabic numerals not devanagari script and it doesn't add up.

Hi, many thanks for all the ideas . Tryna thought it might be Paphill but it is actually Raphill . The picture looks like a man in a cloak holding a stick with a query star on the end . I couldn't distinguish the type of font fir numbers particularly the number 8 but the Arabic theme from alganbagerap is interesting and you obviously know your stuff ! The metal seems to be silver colour underneath . It weighs 66 grams and measures 6 cms in diameter . I don't know where it came from , an old uncle gave it to me with other coins and bits and pieces . I've Tried to download better picture . Many thanks

Thank you for the fresh images. Still doesn't tell us much but by the shape of some of the numerals, particularly the 8 I think this may be C17th. Also despite the apparent English feel of the words, it is possibly European. The figure is wearing a type of hat that I associate with the Jewish community in the Low Countries. I shall carry on with this, it fascinates me.
