I'm needing some help with the year on this one if possible. No stars under the Eagle means 1916 or type 1 1917 from what I've read. I only see 1 curl of hair coming off the back of her head which points to 1916 while the stars on the shield point to 1917. What do y'all think? Thanks for the information.

My vote is for 1917. The giveaways for me are the strong stars on the shield (as you mentioned)and the wall lines on the obverse. The single hair curl is due to wear, as I think I can see traces of the second curl.

Consider what the chances of getting a 1916 in any condition? Only 52,000 minted and probably most of those that still exist in some form if they were in circulation the coin's dates are worn away just like the one you are showing. Almost 12 million 1917's type 1 minted of all mint/dates. Probably the only 1916's that still exist are the ones plucked from the coin stream in the very early years and put into a collection. Many of the LSQ's minted before 1925 that circulated are usually worn pretty badly However, there are quite a few with pretty low mintage that can be found in better condition from those times. These were usually plucked out in 30's and 40's and put into collections. I remember seeing them in circulation in the 1950's and all I saw were badly worn often missing dates.

On CCF there have been 4 or 5 1916 SLQ's found .. pretty sure some of
those were from ebay.

So I know it is possible ....

I am thinking the OP's coin is a 1917

Definitely a 1917, beside what was already pointed out, the drapery on the arm is "v" shaped vs a 1916 which looks like a wrap, and there is no space between the gown and step/pedestal.

Here is an older CCF topic on a 1916 I plucked from ebay a few years ago for comparison,
this should help you, just as I learned from others here. keep looking!

I agree with y'all and I'm thinking 1917 as well. The robe to me is a dead giveaway, it looks almost identical to a picture of another 1917 specimen. Thanks y'all for taking the time to help me out. Hopefully I will find some oldies but goodies so I can share with my new coin family. Thanks again.
Rest in Peace

Johnny54321 (now sadly deceased) had 5 dateless 1916s.

For reasons stated above the OP coin is a 1917.
