This is the first gold piece I ever purchased - bought it raw from a reliable coin shop. Any ideas on a grade? Not the best at photographing, sorry. Thank you in advance.

Hard to tell from the pics but I'd say MS-62. Nice No Motto type though.

It would be nothing but a blind guess with those photos. Try cropping the background out leaving only the picture of the coin, preferably upright.

... No clue with these photos. Perhaps MS-something. Crop the photos to remove the background and rotate to the normal view of 'up is up' ... Might be a lovely coin ... congrats on your first gold addition. David

It looks choice mint state from those pics. If this is all I had to go on then I'd guess MS63. Remember 1908 NM Saints are regarded as bullion all the way up to gem level so this coin is worth only slightly more than melt value.

Yes, it is a very nice coin, regardless of grade. The photo is blurry, but the coin looks MS.

Interestingly enough the 1908 no motto Saint was my very first gold purchase also. I bought it to start on the gold page of my 7070. It wasn't much more than melt at the time and I think it's an MS-61. Congrats!!

Thanks for all of your responses thus far. As stated, I know my photography skills aren't very good but I took your suggestions and tried to crop it and then enlarge. Seemed to have worked (at least for me) - not sure on the rotation as it appears correct on my computer. Here are updated shots. By the way, I fell in love with the 08 Saint No Motto immediately and couldn't wait to save up for it. They are truly beautiful coins. Thanks again! Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

Quite an improvement! Looks like a good shot at 65. Beautiful example.

Is that a camera reflection in the left obverse field? Assuming it is a reflection I'd bump it up to 64.
