Was wondering if anyone could tell me if this would be considered an Improper Alloy mix? I've seen some examples of some coins, and because I'm new at this it's very confusing but at the same time fun. Also can you tell me how to identify Susan B. Anthony dollar struck on a quarter planchet? Thank goodness for these website & experts who can help me learn. I would appreciate any information you can give me. Thank you.

Sorry, but the pics don't show anything abnormal to indicate an improper alloy mix. What are you seeing?

And as Dustin6 said, weight and diameter would be how to tell if its on an improper planchet.
Weight of a typical SBA is 1.04 oz or 8.1g.
Diameter is 1.04 inches or 26.5mm.

to the forum!

I think you just have a normal SBA dollar coin there.

There are wide & narrow rim varieties for the 1979-P SBA dollars. Here is a link to help you out with that: http://www.smalldollars.com/dollar/page29.html

Happy hunting!

I agree that it doesn't appear to be anything special.

Thanks everyone for the information, especially the information on the wide rim and small rim something I didn't know. This is a great site for information, it's greatly appreciated.

The 1979 should have all been the narrow rim, but they changed part way through the year and continued to use the side rims on the 1980 and 1981s.

Here is the differences on the 1979 when compared side by side:
