Can someone tell me what I am seeing in this 1986 penny. There is a secondary ridge going around the coin and through some of the motto and date. Is it a broadstrike? I reaseached it but I'm just not sure. I have found quite a few 1986 coins that look this way. Thanks for your feed back.

That is Die Deterioration not an error.

I agree with John1, the ridge you mention shows some Die Deterioration. That said the rim looks out of round at the same time.

Maybe a photo illusion, if not something else might be going on. Check the diameter or compare with a normal cent. Thanks, Doug.
