Jason, welcome to CCF. I agree that it is only worth a cent, but it is still kinda interesting and the sort of thing that I would probably keep "just because".

There is such a thing as dropped numbers. Areas of the die get clogged with grease, metal particules, grit, etc. They can fall out and get struck into the coin. The coin would be very valuable. This is not the case with your coin though, for one reason, the dates would have to match. You take great pictures, now that you have become techy, find another coin for us.

Welcome Jason..the fact you even noticed the disparity puts you in a class all your own dude! Now, you have the "EYE", show us what you find next. Check all your stashed pocket change layin around the house first. Then, go down to your local bank, and, ask them if they have some extra rolls of pennies to sell you. At $0.50/roll, it won't take long to understand that this is THE best deal in town for not only learning numismatics, but, on occassion, finding an error or a variety you can't wait to shoot n share with us.
50c these days doesn't buy much(1/10th of a lunch, and, that's without the drink!) these days, but, you really get a bang for the "buck" hunting penny rolls. Besides, all the COPPER pennies you find add up, and worth hoarding for the day when pennies are no longer made.
