Was wondering why would the devices
on this coin be so thick compared to other 1963d's?
All thoughts welcome

Thank you

Looks like a " Dryer Coin"

Quote:
This is what happens to a Lincoln Cent when it falls into a commercial clothes dryer tumbler. Sometime they get stuck and tumble a long time. This gives them the look of a spooned coin, one that has been tapped with a spoon. The details appear wider and smoothed over. Many times the edge will roll over the faces of the coin and give it the look of having a ring attached to it. The damage varies on how long the coin was in the dryer. They have no added collector value. http://www.lincolncentsonline.com/pmd.html

I think normal circulation has caused the devices to flatten out and look wider.

Either a Dryer Coin, or just one that's very worn. No extra value.

Looks like the coins devices have been flattened evenly. No premium. Copper value or spend it.

I'm still wondering if this is what a coin that was run through a rock tumbler would look like? Anyone have one to experiment with a circulated coin and some stones with? It would be necessary to take the coin out everyday to wash and photo to see the progress. Then we could see if that is the cause or not.
