Hello, My name is Leonard Mott and have been going through some change and found this LMC amongst the many coins I have been searching through. Apparently the zinc pennies in 1982 had a corrosion problem and this penny has bubbling apparent under magnification. Overall there is little wear but one spot around the rim is splitting about 1/4 way around circumference facing Abe Lincoln's face. I have been trying to get better photographs of this coin to show here and I have this one for now. Can anyone give me information on this coin? I see the other 3 specimens have all been reported here first correct? Any help will be greatly appreciated, sincerely Leonard Mott Jr.

to the forum!

What you have pictured is not the "Big One".
It looks interesting but also looks like Mechanical Doubling.
Some more images would help.

Nice die crack!

Neat illustrations, Chronoswiss. I've never seen that one before.

As all have said, this cent you show is spendable.

I feel the the roughness of the plating was probably caused by zinc dust that plating onto the planchet. A poor rinse of the zinc plachets before the plating was the issue.

Another issue to point out, that is a large date cent not a small date.

EDIT: I just noticed that John already stated that fact.
