I agree, It's a Small Bead. Just wondering if seller should be contacted and give him the bad news. Otherwise someone is going to get taken for a lot of money.

Compare it with the images here: http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/...BeadsVar.htmIt is a tough call... I tend use the lining up of the H in ELIZABETH with the beads. The large beads should have the left side of the H lining up in-between the beads. the PCGS coin shows the left side of the H lining up to bead. Thus, by that criteria, this is a mis-attributed small beads.

IS this not where PCGS's guarantee kicks in? If it is not usable/enforceable does it have any value? I have seen many discussions on this topic, but never seen a response where someone has gone through the claim process.

To determine Large from Small for me, I find the Denticle count is precise but would be too long each time so using Ken Potter's image I just marked it out & shortened it up. I saw something similar for the 1973 LG vs. Small beads and just copied it. Seems to be ok so far when I'm searching unless I am missing something easier...

TaeKenDo, thanks for posting the picture.
By looking at the picture it Seems that if you count from the right marker you only have to go to the left side of the D and you have a good indication of small or large beads.

Interesting, I was unaware of this variety. I really like the kionpro link given earlier- it seems to find a definative area to ID large vs small beads... Small Large I also see a resemblance here to the large vs small beads of the Pennies; and you can see that the beads are "crowding" the rim on the large bead variety, while there is a discernable "gap" between the rim & bead on the small bead vaiety...

best marker IMO just may be the lower lip and chin.
