Looks like a lamination to me because of the texture.

What is the weight? If it is normal with that void there, it might be a struck through debris that has peel off the coin. The the coin weight is light, then it might be a lamination. I doubt lamination as they tend to run in straight lines. So let me know the weight and we can go from there.

Thank you!

Obviously not a "retained lamination"!

Is there a descriptive term for this?
dropped lamination?
unretained lamination?
lost lamination?
?

I found an answer to my question. I think this would be called a dropped lamination. Perhaps it could be called a "dropped fragment" since a portion of the bust is also missing?

That was my thought at first, but with the weight slightly less than normal that told me it the area in question is the missing weight. If this were a piece of struck debris, the weight would be 3.11 grams. So because it is less, then I figured it was just a peeled lamination that reduced the weight. But the shape of it looks more like a struck through debris.
