No, it's not an 1884 or 1885, like I'd wish. But, it is one of those scarcer dates...1889...only 18,125 minted...of which I have 4 now.
The scans hide a bit of old scuffing on the cheek. But, they do reveal a tiny, green, corroded spot on the reverse. Definitely not optimal but I thought the coin would still be considered market acceptable as such (that is, slabbable in theory).
I consider the coin to be an AU50. More luster shows on the obverse than the reverse (which has a slightly crustier look), but there's very little wear to speak of. In terms of wear, I'd call it 53-55.
A very, VERY nice coin. If you keep showing pictures of these I'm going to end up catching some kind of fever and have to add some of these to my family of coins
I think you're the Man when it comes to 3CN. Nice looking coin, scarce date, I'm jealous. I agree with the AU, but have to question the green spot on the reverse. I'm not sure it's slabbable, but would be proud of it anyway if it was mine.
