just pull prices out of mid-air...

The Kennedy posting states "God bless". I can't imagine anyone who bought it at the asking price feeling particularly blessed.
In my opinion this show of piety is rather hypocritical when the buyer would be taken advantage of.

The Kennedy half dollar doesn't have a mint mark. Maybe that is why it is worth so much, being a D without the D....  I think these people sometimes look at a coins highest value and go from there. For example, a 1964-D Kennedy half dollar in MS-68 condition, is valued at $22,000 on the PCGS site. They may think they really have a coin that holds that value. |

Regardless of the collectible category people who don't know the field overestimate the value of the items they have, sometimes by so many multiples that it's scary.
I quit making trips to folks who responded to my classified ads for buying unless I was certain they were not pre-judging into the stratosphere.
