Some of you may have seen this offered and I thought it was kind of interesting. If you haven't already seen the grade on the slab, what would you say the grade is? TPG grade later tonight. It looks like a press set-up coin. The technical grade is AU, but to me it's only worth VF+ money. To collectors who are into this sort thing, it's worth more, but if I were such a collector I'd play it coy and work the negotiation angle. At any rate I can't see this selling for AU money

 For AU money I'd want to see AU detail. Error coins are kind of neat but not high on my priority list.

It looks like an uncirculated at MS-62 with a really terrible strike both sides. A good example of why strike plays such an important part of value, in this case much to the negative, I'm sure.

Looks AU from the luster, but the strike is crappy, or there was a strike through grease. My example is similar, but yours has more luster and less detail.

I bid $5 on this but didn't win it.  Surprised that it was in a straight up AU58 holder. It ended up selling for $245 which is pretty high given that normal 58s go for around $325. 16 bidders and 47 bids on this one. Listing is here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1857-1C-PCG...047675.l2557

Looks like a Greaser to me. I'm not sure it could be a die adjustment strike with such a strong central strike on the obverse.
