I thought this was interesting and wondered if there was a specific label I could put on it.

Where to begin.

Obverse. It looks like it was Struck Through Grease and the die is very worn. There is a small die crack by the rim above the date, or a scratch. This is hard to tell in the pic. The shape makes me think a die crack. All of the radial lines "Rays" are due to Die Deterioration.

Reverse. All looks like a heavily worn die. It also looks like the anvil die was tilted a little. You have a fin on the left rim and peaks on the outer rim of the right text.

In all it just looks like it was time to retire both dies.

I also noticed the eye looks funny. Die chip?

Anyone? I know it's not that old (30 years) but I would like to learn more about specific errors and how to distinguish them.

Thank you for any help that may come my way.

The line NE of the mint mark. Is that line incuse? Or is the area to the right of that line raised or level in that area? If the line is incuse and the field is level then it might be a struck though something. (perhaps fiber) If that area is raised , then a few more shots of that area closer in to see what it is? Sometimes images don;t show what we really want to see. But the die is ready to be reitred, which throws in other issues.

It is probably not worth the effort but I will try to get better pics.

The field to the right of the line does seem raised slightly (it's very hard to tell). Also, the line extends onto the rim at both ends.

I thought it was interesting because the obverse and reverse areas in question are radially aligned on the coin.

I was thinking of the possibility of a folded over fin.
