hello everyone, I've been very busy lately glad to hear from my friends on here or hope too .. ....anyway, found this 1985 LMC roll hunting. not sure what to make of it, looks like a struck through & whatever was there fell out? does look like it has drill bit lines or some lines? inside but the edges around the cavity aren't circular? ...reverse has some type of die chips? ..the last picture shows what looks like a crack across memorial that extends to the chips? ....I'm lost on this one ....any help would be great, I know it's late, but just wanted to share this....well thanks & i'll check back later or in the am....terry.

looks like it was hit with something, and then part of the plating broke off, PMD

It looks like it was drilled. If the drill is held in the hand a drill bit will wander and can create a more elliptical hole and follow it around the worse it gets.

The straighter lines may be from the plating breaking off during the drilling?

The reverse may be from pressure or heat or both from drilling, deforming the metal.

That's my guess.

Can't think of any minting process that would result in this damage.

I agree with the drill attack.

Those marks have a pretty strange pattern for a drill

If it were a struck through, probably the plating would still be in tact. (depending on what caused it during the strike) But most struck through have the plating in tact.
