Below are images of a 1989-D LMC that matched RPM-009 on Variety Vista:

I found this coin last year, early in my discovery of errors and varieties. I took the page at it's word. Since joining this forum I have been going through many of my coins and finding errors that were not errors. I also helped identify a coin just like this on the forum as DDD a couple of days ago.

This RPM was not listed with Wexler that I could find. Is this and the coin at Variety Vista more likely to be a DDD and Variety's example mis-identified as an RPM?

I have little doubt that the reverse if from deterioration:

Some images also show reflection of scratches in the 2x2 plastic. Thanks for viewing.

What you have is referred to as split plate doubling. The Copper plating gets split during the striking process and the Zinc underneath will show though. It has no numismatic value.

It will eventually begin to rot away in the areas where the Zinc is exposed.

The mint mark is not even close to the right position to be RPM-009.
Rest in Peace

I did not expect confirmation that I had an RPM. In fact I was almost certain it was not. I have looked at the image for the RPM-009 overlayed with the image I posted. They are almost identical. All I was suggesting is that RPM-009 at Variety Vista may also be split plate doubling and not actually an RPM.

Note on the 1989D-1MM-009, the mint mark is showing a spread south.

Your coin does not show this. Also the upper part of the mint mark is also showing a light amount of spread there as well.
