I came across this 21D in a collection of dimes. Its obviously damaged, I was just wondering if it has any collector value in this condition....? Thanks for any input!

Other than the damage it's a nice looking Merc. I'd say still desirable as only a little more than a Million minted - I'll take a guess and say 80$ coin.

It doesn't look right to me. I don't think it may be real it just looks off.

It looks ok to me . Bad damage but has to have value for a nice circulated example .

I agree with alpha omega that this coin "doesn't look quite right".
Yeah, I know it's damaged but the wide rim and date sure look "funny". The overall color and toning around the devices screams Chinese counterfeit to me.
Maybe it was deliberately damaged to throw off suspicion? Anything more than bullion value and the counterfeiter is happy.

I'm afraid I'm not feeling the love for this coin either.
I've never seen a flat nosed Mercury for any date.
Whole coin looks funkadelic to me.

Does not appear to be a genuine coin. Might be a Chinese fake with damage added to throw the buyer off.

Details look to be accurate and it doesn't have the mushy strike of a cast coin so I'd say genuine. The damage will knock it down in value to a level where counterfeiting wouldn't really make much economic sense - you're looking at maybe a $30-$40 coin here.

After a closer look, the B in LIBERTY and the lips look a little strange too. I'm starting to agree the coin has some strange characteristics.
