Here is another coin that has been sitting in a small yellow business envelope for 50+ years. The side of the coin says "half a dollar," but I cannot sufficiently capture the image with my camera.

An approximate grade and any other information of interest would be greatly appreciated.

Wow...is this another one from your great grandfather? If it is he sure had a good eye for quality coins, I'm impressed.

Yep, both coins are from the same small wooden box (which contains about 15 manila envelopes with 1-4 coins each and some loose coins). I assume he considered the coins in the envelopes to be most valuable, as they have notes on the "present" value of the coin (those being $5 for this coin and $7.50 for the one I listed earlier today). I assume he got these prices from an old price guide that is also in the box (it says "1936 Buying Price Catalogue of Old Coins" and was produced by National Coin Co).

It is very, very close to the real color. I took a number of pictures with different settings and this is as close as I could get. If there is any difference, the actual coin is slightly darker. Thanks for grading the coin, I appreciate it.

I'm leaning toward AU-50...would have to have it in hand to see if it grades higher or lower. Very nice details on this coin. Your great grandfather's investment will pay off handsomely if ever your family decides to sell these.

I'm surprised you're gonig AU-50. I see the bump on the cheek, but the flat areas seem so completely dingless that I had to put it in the MS category.
