I'm Steve from Cassville, MO. Been collecting for years and having a great time. This community looks very informative. I have varied interests. I've been going through nooks an crannies today and found two Washington quarter double dies today. 1968-D DDO 801 and a 1964-D DDO 101. Been in a drawer for years. My new magnifier really helps! But my question is about the Silver Eagle I am uploading. It has a hole in it and was curious about what to call it. I think it is a planchet flaw. Does this add to its value or detract from the value? I'm a PCGS member and was wondering if this might be something to not waste my money on. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Steve

I think it is a planchet flaw.

Value? I have no idea.
Rest in Peace

Indentation is probably from a dig in the planchet, as you suggest.

It does not add value. Most certainly not worth TPG fees.

Thank you for your answers. I had never seen a planchet flaw before nor new of any value either way.

I'm not sure about a planchet flaw as it is located in the raised device of the coin. Maybe small gas bubble or a really small delamination?
