First this is an unfair test as my photography skills are poor to say the least.

My Last post of an 1864 2 Cent coin caused a small stir.

Here are three coins I graded and sent to PCGS these are actually the only three coins PCGS and I agree on.

All coins have at least some mint luster remaining.
The Point spread is 9 points on the three coins. Thats the only help you get.

This is not a contest but if some one gets all three spot on they will get an F12 1864 2 Cent from my collection.

Please give reasons for your grade assignment. Just posting a numeric grade does not really help those who are not familiar with this series. If you are guessing then please say so.
Hopefully this post will help those who are looking for this type coin .

OK. I don't have a clue what I'm talking about, but I love a challenge.

Coin 1: I'm surprised it slabbed. No wear. 64BN, but I disagree with the estimate because of the NW-SE line thru the shield and the reverse mark on the E.

Coin 2: This was, to my eye, the nicest of the group. I think this is the one amac44 got right, 63RB, but I might have called it 64.

Coin 3: Noticeable wear on the sides of the shield, and on the wreath. AU55.

With a 9 point spread I am assuming the grade range is between AU55 & MS64. Based on that spread, and my general lack of grading ability, I'm going with the following:

1) MS62....can't see any wear, other than that I'm guessing

2) MS64....despite the uneven color & the weakness of IN GOD I'm not seeing any wear or distracting marks

3) AU55....looks like wear on the horizontal sheild lines, arrowheads & leaves

AU-55, MS-62, AU-53.

I'm far more harsh on these because ebay sellers tend to call F-15s AU-55s, and I like to balance them out.

1st-AU55, has slight wear on leaves, reverse
2nd-MS62
3rd-AU53, has wear on leaves, reverse and shield lines, obverse

I did my grading before I saw HABIB's post. I guess I concur with HABIB!

AU-58 - I have a feeling this looks better in hand than photo
MS-63 RB - Nice & clean
XF-45 - I'm conservative on this one. Obverse seems to have rub on all the high points (bottom of leaves & arrows). Interestingly I like this coin the best because of the die crack on the reverse.

Just guessing, I have no experience grading these.

1st one- AU54 It looks like a small rim dent or something on the top?

2nd one- MS63 this could be the highest although there is some weakness in the "IN"

3rd one- MS61 just doesn't look as good as the other one.

I really like this series of coins. I have one my self, although not nearly in as good of condition as the ones shown here. Since I am fairly new to collecting/ grading this is purely a guess. I'm gonna say First coin is MS 60, the second is MS 63, and the third is AU 54.

Well, I don't feel too bad about coins 2 & 3. I was close enough to clain it was the pictures that threw me off. However, I really missed the boat on the first coin. Live & learn.
