I have been trying to build a meaningful coin collection and I am looking for some ideas on what I could include. I received a nice 24 slot slab holder box for Christmas.

I have filled 11 slots with a Carson City Collection. I have 13 slots left. I am looking for meaningful and historical coins to fill the last slots. I would like to acquire the coins in grade AU55 to AU58.

One of my initial thoughts is a 1830s silver type set.

Looking for additional ideas. Looking for historical and variety. Thanks.

It seems that you should include some gold, like the older double eagle-a classic wild west/ gold rush coin.
Rest in Peace

Carson City Trade dollars, and Carson City Seated Liberty dollar, Half Dollar, Quarter, Twenty Cents, and dime.

Fill out that Carson City Collection.

The Carson Collection includes in AU55 to AU58:
1875 dimes, twenty, quarter, half dollar.
1876 dime, quarter, half
1877 dime, quarter, half.

Those are my favorite Carson Coins. I really like the smaller denomination Seated Liberty coins. I feel like it's my own historical short set.

So now I'm tying to forumulate some more historical short set ideas to fill the remaining slots in the box. I like the challenge of trying to make it exactly 24, if possible.

24 slot slab box? I have only seen 20...anyway...Type Collecting is my theme as well and I am currently working on my 19th Century Everyman Set. I am not sure how in depth in varieties you want to go to, but...

I like the idea of rounding out your CC collection with the SL, Trade, and Morgan dollars, and the half eagle, eagle, and double eagle. That leaves you with 7 slots, and you can finish it off with a Bust type set, one of each denomination. That would be one awesome slab box!
