My third Kleeberg type. Silvered brass, medal alignment. Looks nicer than the one from the 2009 Stack's sale. :)

In my new book I finish with the last treatment of these Kleebergs bringing the total ~ 150 varieties (Part 1 ANS-COAC listing by Kleeberg), (Part 2 - Colonial Newsletter Update) - Part 3 (Chapter 2 of the Forgotten Book). Probably five known unless yours is on this census: 1.Ringo - 2.North American Reference Collection - Ed Saraffian Collection - 3. Wnuck Stacks 6901 - 4. JPL Collection - 5. This specimen. As you probably know Stacks always used the alloy default as brass - we have brass, brass/bronze mixtures and silver wash over brass or bronze. There are a few silver plated pieces but we excluded these Sheffield types as Kleeberg for no good reason.

Anyone who is a Mexican Numismatic Association member has access to the CNL update or you can PM me I can send you a digital of this CNL publication. Its probably also available now in the Eric P. Newman portal along with all the ANS COAC's.

Nice pick-up!

Thanks guys, and thanks for the reference John. This one is pretty surely brass. There are some fine pin scratches on the face of the portrait that show yellow metal consistent with the color of brass. :)

For a possible plate match compare to the Ringo Collection which was Schaumburg, Stacks June 2009; N.A. Ref. (Saraffian) Collection Stacks Coin Galleries July 2007; Dave Wnuck Stacks November 2012. Its recommended to archive these in your library if you are getting serious on Kleebergs as these are the three principal collections to have crossed the block since the ANS-COAC paper started to classify these varieties with Kleeberg numbers. Wnuck also expands into platinum escudos and such ...
