I see sold items similar to that on ebay a lot. At least this is a collectable coin, some sellers make up their own error and get crazy prices for them.

To me it just looks like a run of the mill circulated Philadelphia Dime worth a massive 10c.

The 1982 Roosevelt dimes minted in Philadelphia had a P mint mark on them. A few were minted without the mint mark from a die that didn't have it. Estimates on mintage are as high as 70,000 (just because that was the average life of a die) but believed to be less. They have a value of about $200.00 I think.

Yes, ive seen AU's on average go for 100-120$ and higher MS ive seen all way up to 600$. The dime in question in my opinion is an 80$ coin-and I think not too long ago I read an article that said the population may be as low as 10-15k...i get ill informed uneducated buyers I just cant for the life of me understand somebody buying this when theres always at least a few certified ms examples available for maybe 1/5th the price not many but they are always there on the same page!

Yow! That's not even a nice example. The cold weather gives us too much time on the computer, pad, and phone.

I'm betting they confused it with one of the proof no S coins (No not in 82, the other years) which are much rarer and more valuable

Besides the obvious. How can you tell it was a P?

It wasn't that there was a P and it was removed. Every dime had a MM in '82 there was a batch of coins delivered to Sandusky Ohio and Pittsburgh pa that year from philly that collectors quickly realized the dimes were missing their MM. These all came from one die that was 'accidentally' used before it was caught
