1910 was the year King Edward VII died. The sixpence and florin are the only coins that had different reverses from George V's coins: the sixpence had the classic 'Crowned denomination' that had been used almost continuously since the 1830s, and the florin had the standing Britannia design, which suffered the same problem as the Buffalo nickel and early Standing Liberty quarters - the date wore off quickly!
