NumisRob Bedrock of the Community United Kingdom 18042 Posts	Posted 03/09/2017 1:41 pm One of these has already been posted today, but here's my 1956 farthing - the last year this historic British coin was issued - it was demonetised on January 1, 1961, when it was worth about a third of a US cent. In the 1960s and 1970s some dealers used to promote 1956 farthings as an investment, and they were widely touted as a key date. It's true that they have a fairly low mintage, around 2 million, but the vast majority of them are still in EF or better and lots of BU specimens were put aside at the time, so they are fairly plentiful!
