Great Britain 1921 shilling. 1921 was a very high mintage year for British coins, mainly because large numbers of 0.925 silver coins were being withdrawn and replaced. Even after the adoption of decimal currency in 1971 you could still get 1921 shillings and florins in your pocket change!

Seeing these is always bittersweet for me because my childhood collection complete except for '16 and '21 D mints, all pulled from circulation and the change bowls in the school cafeteria, was stolen from the house when I was a teenager on family vacation. I absolutely knew exactly who the two culprits were because they lived within short hiking distance and I had shown them my Whitman folders mere weeks before school ended for the summer. We lived way out in the country in the late 1950's and I cannot recall my parents ever locking up the house.
