I have seen this coin. It looks undergraded. At first I thought it was a proof, but the site has great pics and magnification. There are small nicks hidden in the obverse fields by the toning. Liberty also has lots of nicks. The reverse is a lot better. The strike is razor sharp and you are getting the look of a coin that grades much higher than others at the same grade. Rim abrasions at 12 o'clock. Nice coin.

Tough to assess this accurately based on these pics. You should post larger ones for better ccf assessment.

My opinion is AU55. A touch of rub. The toning obscures the luster. Shot at AU58. I don't think this is a MS coin.

One reason I left collecting US coins and moved to Ancients and Latin America was the fustration of getting a decent Seated dollar! I spent 20 years just trying to get one tho a few really nice ones slipped through my fingers due to mistakes.

I don't think your coin is a true MS due to the friction on the arm & left breast & Miss Lib's cheek. Also from the pix it's very hard to tell the shape of the fields. Do they just have mottled toning or have they been messed with?

If not and just motteld toning, I'd guess the coin is a 58 grade. It may "60" as that'd be a better match for a possible problematic near-MS coin. 58's may be super nice sliders without problems but definite wear.

Thanks for weighing in but I love it. Rarely do I get this excited about a coin. It is truly a unique and ethereal piece and I couldn't be happier to have it in my collection.

I will never sell it at any price.

I agree. I am quickly learning that people's opinions of toned coins are highly subjective and tend to draw out strong emotions either way. You either love it or hate it with conviction.
