Interesting historical footnote. Here is a link to an earlier conversation on CCF about Celestia:

This is a great and scarce set of gold coins with an interesting story. I understand the 1961 Celeston has the smallest mintage of the three. I am looking for a Joule to complete a type set. I have the 1968 Erg. What gives Celestia some traction is that it's flag flew at the United Nations for a short time until they understood the whole story. Magnanimity to All!

It seems that Celestia is not the only country claiming part of outer space.

Certainly an amusing diversion.

I'm not sure about Klingons and Romulans (to be honest, I'm not sure if they would use any coins in the first place), but Shire Post Mint did make coins for Barsoom (i.e. Mars).

And I wanted to link to the earlier Celestia thread, but apparently it had been mentioned already. Here is another thread discussing a Celestial coin (even earlier than the other one).
