Back in 1995 I was returning to coin collecting and the Civil war half and dollar were some of my first mint purchases during this resurgence. Last year I finished the set with the $5 gold.

As a rule I don't collect clad coins but this one has a striking design. So sad the mint does not mint the 1/2 dollars in silver.

And another part of my gold phase in 2016.

Great set muddler! Definitely one of the more historically significant programs of the modern commemorative series.

Noted Civil War artist Don Troiani designed the obverse of all three coins. Each is a strong design and together form a well-matched set.

As someone once remarked, it's amazing how many Civil War battles were fought in our national parks.

Very nice looking set muddler.

I really like how your adding the gold commemoratives to your collection.

Maybe someday .. in the future ... I hope I can add some to mine.

Are all your gold commemoratives slabbed?

Most are slabbed 69, one is a 70. I do want two more spouse coins but prefer the government boxes. The gold takes up less space in the safe.
