Hello
I been going to some coins I had put aside for later viewing.
The area in question is incused and I have no idea how this was caused.Unless maybe a faulty planchet

Appears to have been struck through some object. There is weakness on the bottom of the ME that corresponds with the start of the incuse area. Not all struck throughs totally block the design elements from forming .

Interesting! The rim shows some possible remnant of collar clash. Thanks, Doug.
Rest in Peace

with clash as the reason, although I'm uncertain what design element left that line.

Well it is not a die issue. You can see the die flow lines on the devices even on the area where the lower part is showing. Is this the real color, or is the area that is lower darker? What is the weight of your coin?

Well the weight is within the range it should be. The stock material must have been flawed. The setup process look correct and the rim is there. Just missing some stock material in that area. First time I've see that happen. where the area tapers off the devices are weaker. So not sure on this one. Strike was correct. Upset was correct. Weight is correct. It is not damaged. It looks like the cladding is thinner on that one part of the coin. So it must be a planchet error.

An incomplete clip would usually include the rim? Also the arch is not quite the same as what I'd expect. But hey who knows. I've seen stranger things I could not explain. Still wondering about the offset rims and if they play a factor? Thanks. Doug.

Since all the devices are present ,it would be a before strike error ?.....faulty planchet?

Faulty planchet. The "pre-strike" is assumed. Still a rare find.

To the right collector. Probably not big money, but something not often seen. (first time I've seen it)
